Today’s film clip on the subculture of deaf culture was from the documentary Sound and Fury. The full length film is available in the IC library. The specific clips we watched are not available online. Below, however, is another clip in which the family engages in an intense debate over the value of deaf culture.
One historical example of a counterculture is the Black Panther Party for Self Defense. Here’s the footage of Bobby Seale explaining the 10-point program.
The other counterculture example I used was the Evangelical movement portrayed in the film Jesus Camp. This film is also available in the IC library. The clips we watched in class are also available online (although the clips below are quite a bit longer than what we viewed in class).
